Scania Credit offers financial services to logistics companies

Local container haulage company Nova Haulage Services Sdn Bhd became the first company in Malaysia to be offered Scania credit facilities to purchase four Scania P380 LA 6X2 MSZ prime movers to renew its fleet.

Besides financial services, Nova Haulage also signed up for Scania’s comprehensive repair and maintenance contract, which comprises regular preventive maintenance and 24/7 roadside assistance.

SCANIA CV AB, manufacturer of heavy trucks, buses and coaches, marine, industrial and power-generation engines, recently announced that it is now offering financial services to Malaysians.

Offered through Scania Credit (M) Sdn Bhd, a fully owned subsidiary of Scania CV AB, Scania says it offers comprehensive financial-solution packages, which provide diversified financial services such as hire purchase and leasing for acquisition of trucks, buses and other related products to qualified customers.

With the inclusion and support of financial services, Scania Malaysia’s range of products and services are now poised to offer Malaysian haulage and logistics companies’ total solutions to help boost profitability.

Scania customers can now look forward to an attractive alternative in financing options other than commercial banking facilities to help in their future fleet expansion with a one-stop centre at Scania.

These include tailored packaged solutions that afford flexibility with good support within the global Scania network.

“Sound and comprehensive financial support can make all the difference to business planning. At Scania Credit Malaysia, we’re dedicated to providing flexible solutions that result in predictable costs and manageable risks over the entire life cycle of our customers’ vehicles,” said, Ferike Pasthy, Scania Credit (M) Sdn Bhd regional director of Asia, during an official truck handover ceremony at Scania Malaysia’s regional headquarters in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam.

“With the launch of Scania Credit Malaysia, Scania in Malaysia is taking a big step in offering total solutions to local customers.

“This enables us to secure a competitive advantage in the market as Scania in Malaysia is among the first in the country to offer ‘in-house’ financial solutions,” added Pasthy.

“Scania’s total solutions, which now include financing services, have made it easy for us to undertake fleet renewal and expansion. We find application and processing at Scania Credit Malaysia fast, efficient and most importantly, at a competitive rate.

“We will certainly consider the service again for our future expansion, which includes not just prime movers but also trailers and other components,” said Nova Haulage managing director Siva Kumar.

According to Pasthy, Malaysia is one of the leading markets for Scania financial services in Asia since its inception in October 2012.

While the financial services are available for all companies across various industries, Scania intends to target the services to small and medium enterprises.

Pasthy projects that up to 30% to 40% of Scania Malaysia’s annual sales can be potentially financed via Scania Credit Malaysia in the coming year.
