The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Malaysia announced that the fuel subsidy for diesel will be reduced by 20 sen per litre, effective Oct 2, 2014. Following the reduced subsidy, the new price for diesel fuel in Malaysia will cost RM2.20 per litre.
Apart from that, GST will be implemented in April 2015 at a rate of six per cent. Fresh food, public transport, education fees and healthcare are exempted but not any industrial transportion related industry.
The new diesel price increase and new 6% GST implementation will raise more than just our cost per trip – it’s likely to bump up our operation cost, truck maintenance charges, facilities cost and even the cost of custom/port documentation charges.
